The world's best selling recording artist and concert performer, a true legend, Richard Clayderman held a concert on October 2nd in Roy Thomson Hall, Toronto, Canada.

This was the second stop of his Canada piano tour. His passionate performance provided Toronto music fans with a wonderful afternoon. At the concert, Clayderman played classic compositions such as "A Comme Amour," "Titanic," "Marriage d'Amour," "Medley Paris" and "New Blue Rundo."

On top of that, as the French artist who has probably adapted and played more Chinese music than any other musician in the world, he presented pieces most Chinese audiences are very familiar with, including "Butterfly Lovers" (Liang Zhu), and "Love is like a Tide" (Ai Ru Chao Shui).

Richard Clayderman was born in Paris on December 28, 1953, and learned how to play the piano from his father, who was a piano teacher. Rather than like most pianists who focus on classical music, Clayderman paid more attention on instrumental renditions of popular music, rearrangements of film soundtracks, and ethnic music.

Clayderman has recorded over 1,300 melodies, and has created a new romantic style througha repertoire which combines his trademark originals with classics and pop standards. As of 2006, his record sales number at approximately 150 million, and has 267 gold and 70 platinum albums to his credit. He is popular in Asia and is noted by the Guinness Book of World Records as being "the most successful pianist in the world."

Roy Thomson Hall, located in the heart of the King St. theatre district, opened in 1982. Its curvilineaar exterior design and sloping glass canopy, which is reflective by day and transparent by night, have made this concert hall a Toronto landmark. Roy Thomson Hall is the home of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, premier venue for the gala screenings of the Toronto International Film Festival(TIFF) and the venue of choice for corporate events throughout the year.
